Overview of the Host Company

SYNRA is a technology company engaged in research and development using image processing and embedded technologies.

The company develops systems using camera data and sensing technologies, combining computer vision with measurement and analysis techniques.

What kind of activities were carried out?

1. Visual SLAM implementation

Worked on implementing and testing ORBSLAM using the Realsense D435i camera.

2. IMU and sensor fusion development

Integrated IMU and camera data using EKF fusion to improve point cloud stability during motion.

3. Map matching and localization

Performed map matching and localization using Faro maps as ground-truth reference data.

4. Jetson system development and debugging

Worked on debugging Jetpack-related driver and IMU issues through backend modifications and kernel-level testing.

5. Camera-based vibration analysis research

Conducted research and experiments combining computer vision and vibration analysis for internal state estimation.

What achievements and learnings did you gain from participating in the internship?

  • If you are interested in embedded GPU systems or computer vision, studying CUDA and GPU programming fundamentals beforehand can be helpful.
  • During the internship, you may encounter situations where systems do not work as expected, so patience and willingness to experiment are very important.
  • In addition to technical skills, the ability to independently research and systematically approach problems is highly valuable in this environment.
  • Actively communicating your progress, ideas, and difficulties during discussions can help you gain more from the internship experience.

Comments on accepting interns (from the host company)

  • The interns demonstrated Visual SLAM using Realsense+IMU in a month and advanced the elemental technology verification in the company.
  • As for Jetpack driver incompatibility and IMU glitches, the interns went into kernel verification and isolated the cause, and left the knowledge of low-layer debugging in the company.
  • The existence of the interns brought in the practical knowledge of CUDA/GPU environment, and it encouraged the concrete examination of embedded GPU utilization.
